Patricia E. Kennedy, J.D., is the Founder and Chairman of ROYCE IP Asset Management, a leading intellectual property asset management and consulting firm headquartered in Calabasas and San Clemente, California. With over two decades of experience in intellectual property law, valuation, licensing, and brand strategy, Ms. Kennedy has built a reputation for transforming innovation into enduring market value.
A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (B.S.) and Whittier College School of Law (J.D.), Ms. Kennedy earned multiple academic distinctions, including the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in trial advocacy. Early in her career, she clerked under the Hon. C. Robert Jameson at the Orange County Superior Court and served as a Certified Law Clerk for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, gaining a strong foundation in legal writing, advocacy, and public service.
Since founding ROYCE IP (originally established as Trademarks International), Ms. Kennedy has led a multidisciplinary team of experts spanning technology, mechanical design, marketing, finance, and law. Her firm specializes in trademark, patent, and copyright analysis; valuation and damages assessment; licensing; complex negotiations; and litigation support. Over the past 23 years, she has advised a diverse clientele including major corporations, health institutions, investment firms, brand owners, and legal professionals.
Ms. Kennedy’s expertise encompasses IP valuation, brand monetization, market implementation, and strategic portfolio management. She is a frequent lecturer on topics such as patent analysis and valuation, brand licensing, trademark valuation, and rights of publicity. Her work is driven by a core belief that intellectual property is not just a legal right—it is a powerful, living asset capable of generating long-term wealth.
An active member of numerous professional associations—including the American Bar Association (ABA) Intellectual Property Section, Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA), Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association (LAIPLA), Orange County Patent Law Association (OCPLA), and the International Trademark Association (INTA)—Ms. Kennedy remains deeply engaged in shaping the future of intellectual property practice.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Kennedy is committed to civic engagement and philanthropy, having served with Rotary International, the Pasadena Showcase House, the City of Huntington Beach, and USA Water Polo, among others.
